Automate - Performing ECC Collections

Introduction

This article outlines the process of configuring ECC server for Rampiva Automate and deploying ECC collections through Rampiva Automate.

A. Creating an ECC Collection - ECC Users/Computers

Navigate to the Collections Page

Click the Add + button to create a new Collection.

If the Add + button is disabled, verify that you have Create and Modify permissions on the scope All Collections in your Security Policy.

Select Client for the collection. For example ECC Client.

In this step we will select the matter for the collection, for each computer in the collection a data set will be created data sets are named by computer name and collection.

Select Matter for the collection. For example Collection Matter.

For example: Computer1-Collection1.

Click next.

Enter Sample Collection for the name of the collection.

Select ECC Collection for the collection type.

Select Collection Data Repository for the data repository of the collection..

When selecting the data repository, if you receive the warning The Data Repository is using a local system path, then the collection might run into issues when moving files into the data repository.

Click next.

Select ECC Profile for the ECC profile of the collection..

If you get the error There are no configurations available on ECC server when selecting your ECC Profile you will need to create a configuration on ECC server, Go through the steps in Section B of this article.

In this step we will select the ECC Configuration we will use for the collection, the ECC Configuration is a predefined collection on the ECC server that Rampiva Automate uses to deploy ECC collections.

Select Collect Documents for the ECC configuration of the collection.

In the section Configuration, the ECC Configuration is broken down. The table shows the Task Number, Task Type and Options. In the Options cell information about the task is displayed, the properties that Rampiva Automate changes will be shown in italic font.

Select Include logs near dataset folder for the log strategy of the collection.

The Log Strategy allows you to determine what happens to logs after the collection is finished, then strategies are:

  • Delete once collection is complete - All logs from collection will be deleted;

  • Include logs near dataset folder - Logs from collection will be moved into the Log folder inside the dataset directory;

  • Include logs in dataset folder - Logs from collection will be moved inside the data set final folder, and data set file info will be created for each file.

In this step we will select computers for the collection, computers are selected by clicking on a computer row in the computer table. The computer table is located in the Computers section.

Select computer for the collection. For example CC01.

The computer table has options to filter the computers, you can use the Search Bar or filter by All, Selected or Unselected.

Click next.

Review and confirm Collection settings.

Click collect.

Your collection is now created, and will begin collecting from computers.

B. Creating an ECC Collection - Active Directory Users/Computers

Configure the Rampiva Automate ECC Profile to collect only AD items.

Click the Sync with AD radio button.

Change the Collection Scope to Only AD Items.

Navigate to the Collections Page

Click the Add + button to create a new Collection.
